Since Wednesday 7/8 the fire has been raging in the Municipality of Amari, while 9 villages have been evacuated. More specifically, the fires have destroyed vast areas in the Municipal Communities of Agia Paraskevi, Agios Ioannis, Ano Merus and Apodoulos, leaving behind extensive damage to public infrastructure, such as utility networks, water points, as well as to agricultural land, with olive groves, vineyards and grassland burnt to the ground.

Strong firefighting forces as well as volunteers have rushed to the outbreaks for immediate extinguishing, as announced by the Minister of Civil Protection, Vassilis Kikilias.
