Integrated Plan for Hosting Digital Nomads in Crete

Within the framework of the JoInOuT project, PANEPAIK explored through research-study an "Integrated Plan for Hosting Digital Nomads in Crete".

Digital nomads create opportunities and dynamics of multifaceted development in the places they visit and reside, essentially making the phenomenon a multi-layered accelerator of sustainable local economies and societies.

The study, titled "Integrated Plan for Hosting Digital Nomads in Crete," sets as the central strategic goal for the Region of Crete the development of a deurbanized and decentralized digital nomadism in the countryside and inland of the island. The main argument highlights the comparative advantages that Crete offers as a destination for digital nomads, proposes 5 spatial zones for the development of digital nomadism, while simultaneously identifying the relevant needs, leading to specific policy proposals and measures.

Within the framework of this specific study, field research was conducted, which captured and evaluated both the preferences and impressions of digital nomads who have already visited Crete and explored the conditions and possibilities for offering digital nomad services in specific rural locations.

The project entitled "Partnership of Innovative Rural Tourism Actions" and distinctive title: "JoInOuT", is implemented within the framework of the Action "Cooperative Innovation Formations/SCC" - 2nd Call: Businesses" and is financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and by National Resources in the context of the Operational Program "Competitiveness, Entrepreneurship and Innovation (EPANEK)" of the NSRF 2014-2020" (Project code: ΓΓ2CL-0359457).
