The company was founded out of the need to satisfy the demand for the best quality olive oil around Sitia, which had to be produced and bottled according to strict quality standards. Spearheaded by the Holy Monastery of Toplou and with the participation of 23 olive producers, after numerous meetings and discussions, this became a reality in November 1999.
In the olive groves, the well-known variety “Koroneiki” is cultivated.
The internationally acclaimed Extra Virgin Olive oil is derived from fresh and healthy olive trees in Sitia (PDO Sitia Lassithiou Crete), renowned for cultivating some of the world’s finest olives. The Monastery of Toplou follows strict guidelines for organic farming and ecological balance on their land. The exceptional virgin olive oil comes from local farmers in the area as well as producers from all over Crete.
The goal of the collaboration between BIO-SITIA and the Monastery of Toplou is the production of excellent quality organic and conventional products.
