Sfakia

Slightly to the east of the village is Britomartis beach: much frequented by nudists.

Beginning the exploration, and moving from west to east along the local beaches (many of which are inaccessible by road), you first encounter Marmara.

This owes its name (Tall Sand) to the lofty sand-dunes which surround it.

This beach is huge: sandy with dunes, and shallow turquoise waters; all beneath the towering walls of the Venetian fort.

West of Frankokastello, on the Chora Sfakion road, are the beaches first of Vatalos and then of Koutelos.
