At a distance of 8 km east of Rethymnon, in the middle of the valley of Adele is a seaside village, also called Adele! Fronting the Adeliano Kampos (Plain) is a wonderful and large beach, which is a smart choice in the summer for Greeks and the rest of the world too!
The area supports a great number of large tourist complexes – apartments and rooms. Indeed Adele is so close to Rethymnon that it is really a suburb now, linked by buses.
The beach is fully organized – with umbrellas, sunbeds and showers. As well as plentiful accommodation, you will find lots of tavernas, restaurants and cafeterias. Water-sports are on offer too. And as always a lifeguard – but take care yourself too as the beach is always open to strong north winds.
On the beach you will spot fenced off areas – there the loggerhead turtles (Karetta karetta) come ashore to lay their eggs.
East of Adele is another beach, called Geropotamos.
