Ammoudares and Kalamaki

Ammoudares

A large, but not developed strand with coarse sand and small pebbles. With no infrastructure at all, its tranquility makes it a good choice for those wanting to relax and take it easy.

Kalamaki (or Kapelas)

This is the next beach to the east: quiet and secluded, with sand and blue shallow waters, all surrounded by tall cliffs.

There are no traces of organized holiday-making: once again for this reason it is just the spot for anyone seeking calm and relaxation. And also it is right for unsupervised camping and nudism.

To reach Kalamaki, you take the coast road west from Ierapetra, and after 7-8 kilometers you will arrive in the neighbourhood of the beach .. which is not visible from the road.
