Lygaria 21 km west of Heraklion and just 1 km east of Agia Pelagia. This is a beautiful enclosed bay that is relatively protected from the winds. It has both sand and pebbles and a quite interesting seabed you can explore with a mask.
The beach is organized in places with sun beds and umbrellas, and is literally but a step away the tavernas and cafes where you can find what you need. There is a diving school. To get here take the exit off the national highway at the point where you see the relevant sign.
