Mades is a small bay 20 km west of Heraklion in front of the tourist resort of the same name. The beach is pebbly, the water clear and a beautiful seabed is there for the exploration.
The only downside is the sprawl of the settlement that comes close to the beach. This is organized, while in the village you will find all the usual amenities. Alternatively you can pay a visit to neighbouring Lygaria (just 1.5 km away) for your food or coffee.
