The beach of Trypiti (7 km from the ferry port) is at the southernmost point of Gavdos and thus too the southernmost point of Europe. The beach has crystal clear waters and pebbles. It is known for the "arches" made by rocks to its west, known as "Kamareles".
On them is the now famous and oversized Karekla (=chair) onto which you can climb and admire the Libyan Sea.
Near the beach is a large flat area: if you find yourself here in summer, it will look quite dry. A natural salt lake forms here in the winter: a station for migratory birds.
To reach Trypiti you must hike for about a half hour on a path that starts from Korfos (3.5 km off). It is not a difficult path but be sure to wear appropriate shoes. Also, bring along water and snacks as the beach has no infrastructure.
