West of Frankokastello, on the Chora Sfakion road, are the beaches first of Vatalos and then of Koutelos.
Vatalos Beach
This is large and isolated – and so not organized: sandy with rocks here and there. There are numerous rent rooms and hotels in the general area.
Following the road which leads to Chora Sfakion, by the villages of Nomikiana and Vouva, is the beach of Koutelos.
Koutelos Beach
Quite a large and quiet beach, out-of-the-way and lacking organization: large round pebbles and rocks make it up, with a few tamarisk trees for shade. On the beach is a fish-taverna, while there are a few rooms and apartments to rent by it, should you wish to stay.
