Energy Saving Program “Exoikonomo Oreina”

"Improving the energy efficiency of mountain tourist accommodations"

The purpose of the Program is to improve the energy efficiency of mountain tourist accommodations.

The Program's objectives are to increase the energy efficiency of buildings (mountain tourist accommodations) and their processes in accordance with the objectives set out in the National Energy Strategy, to save financial resources from reducing primary energy consumption as well as to reduce CO2 emissions.

The Program's Energy Objective is to reduce both primary energy consumption by 30% and CO2 emissions by 30% (cumulatively).

Through the Program, support is provided to participating companies for the upgrade of building infrastructure through interventions:

  • In the building shell.

  • Upgrading internal electrical installations.

  • Upgrading of cooling/heating systems.

  • Upgrading and/or integration of new materials.

All mountain tourist accommodations are eligible, regardless of size. The use of highly energy-efficient equipment is expected to significantly reduce the average energy cost of the Greek business. The implementation of energy efficiency measures can contribute to achieving national energy saving targets.

The Action "Improving the energy efficiency of mountain tourist accommodations" is implemented within the framework of the Recovery Pillar: "REPowerEU Fund" with a total budget of 10 million €, of which 1 million € concerns exclusively traditional-preserved buildings. The maximum aid per beneficiary is up to 80,000 €.
