The Ministry of Development has issued a pre-announcement regarding the Action for Research and Innovation, which is encompassed within the "Competitiveness" program of the NSRF 2021-2027. The primary objective of this Action is to link research and innovation with entrepreneurship and to enhance the competitiveness, productivity, and international orientation of businesses, aiming for a transition towards qualitative innovation-driven entrepreneurship and an increase in domestic value-added. Funding applications should pertain to research and innovation projects falling under one of the four interventions:
• Research and development by enterprises
• Collaborations between Enterprises and Research Organizations
• Exploitation of Research Results
• Seal of Excellence for enterprises
Potential beneficiaries can design their research projects utilizing a wide range of eligible expenses, including industrial and experimental development activities. Basic research and feasibility studies are not considered eligible research and development activities under this Action.
The Action targets businesses with at least one closed full fiscal year of operation, with an emphasis on small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as research bodies. Research organizations must operate lawfully in Greece at the time of the Action's call for proposals. Specifically, potential beneficiaries of the Action are:
a) Enterprises and "Other bodies treated as enterprises," and
b) Research organizations and "Other bodies treated as research organizations."
Problematic enterprises and those for which a decision on the recovery of aid from the EU is pending are excluded. Finally, the implementation period for submitted project proposals should not exceed thirty-six months, with the possibility of extension.
