In the context of the JoInOuT project, the company Choose has developed a software platform for providing results of trend/preference recognition of visitors and corresponding updates to businesses and destination management entities.
Specifically, the "Reputation Management Application" of JoInOuT is an innovative application implemented by Choose, which exploits user comments on tourism-serving businesses in Crete, particularly outdoor tourism, from Google Maps and TripAdvisor. Specifically:
- The application extracts user comments on points of interest, applies sentiment analysis techniques, and presents the overall sentiment of users for each point, providing the real feeling of visitors for that point.
- These results can be utilized extensively for both commercial purposes, providing the general sense for a potential partner, and for travelers, analyzing and presenting the experience and comments of previous visitors for the point of interest.
Specifically, the "Reputation Management Application" is a software platform created to provide results of trend recognition and preferences of visitors to Crete and, by extension, for informing businesses and entities operating in this location.
On social networking platforms and review pages, there is a large volume of information that is utilized by the application to assist in managing the tourism product to:
- Understand visitors' expectations from the trip and destination they will choose, their interests, and passions (what excites them, what their priorities are, e.g., environment, pets, etc.), and their concerns (e.g., what they fear most on a trip) in order to determine and personalize the offered products accordingly.
- Identify the needs and desires that providers of relevant services should meet to attract and retain their customers.
The Reputation Management Application performs market trend analysis for reputation management and outdoor tourism businesses through:
- Efficient data collection from review websites and social media.
- Functional representation and storage of synthesized knowledge.
- Application of innovative knowledge analysis algorithms.
- Development of methods and recommendation algorithms in the context of designing and monitoring promotion and enhancement actions for a tourism product.
The development of sentiment analysis algorithms and recommendation systems forms the basis of the platform for analyzing tourism data, which will operate through the epaithros platform (B2B area) for members of the outdoor tourism network.
The project entitled "Joint Innovative Activities for Outdoor Tourism" and distinctive title: "JoInOuT", is implemented within the framework of the Action "Cooperative Innovation Formations/SCC" - 2nd Call: Businesses" and is financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and by National Resources in the context of the Operational Program "Competitiveness, Entrepreneurship and Innovation (EPANEK)" of the NSRF 2014-2020" (Project code: ΓΓ2CL-0359457).
