Research for the creation of educational material on Sustainable Rural Tourism

In the framework of the JoInOuT project, a survey was conducted by I.D.E.A. training, which focused on the investigation of the educational needs of entrepreneurs and employees of the members of the e-paithros Network, focusing on Sustainable Development and Rural Tourism .

The findings collected are mainly quantitative and are used by IDEA in the design of the training material for the needs of the same project. The data highlighted both the background of the participants in terms of their knowledge so far and their further training needs. In particular:

  • 79.8% of respondents already have knowledge about Alternative Forms of Tourism
  • 70.1% of them stressed the need for training in Green Skills in Tourism
  • 6 out of 10 respondents stressed the need for training on the institutional framework of Sustainable Development.

These quantitative data will be further explored through the conduct of a Focus Group which will highlight qualitative data using the method of Discourse Analysis. The combination of qualitative and quantitative data of this research and the Focus Group will contribute to the final formulation of the educational material intended for the training of the members of e-paithros Network. Finally, the results of the survey will be used by ETAM S.A., by the project partners as well as by the members of the e-paithros partnership and by the Rural Tourism operators in general.
