This route is undertaken by car, starting from Sitia and leading to the Monastery of Panagia Faneromeni. It passes through the Minoan settlement of Papadiokambos and reaches the Venetian fortress of Liopetro. After a brief walk in the area surrounding the fortress, which is built on an impressive steep hill with panoramic views in all directions and the sea—where parts of the walls and towers, cisterns, and individual buildings are preserved—we will continue towards the village of Chamezi. There, we will visit an important folklore museum housed in a traditional house of the area, showcasing a collection of everyday items from Crete's past donated by the locals, and we will conclude at the ruins of the well-known Minoan house.
We proceed through Kimourgiotis to Piskokefalo, where the house and watermill of the family of the Cretan poet Vitsentzos Kornaros are located, and then to Petras. From there, we return to Sitia, passing by the nesting beach of the loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta).
