The gorge of Knossos (Knossano) is 6 kilometres long and, essentially, the natural continuation of the "sacred” mountain of Yiouktas. It is one of the three gorges of the Ecological-Archaeological Park of Yiouktas.
It begins at the foot of the mountain, south of Archanes, passes through the location of Kato Milos, the area of Miristί and the aqueduct bridge of Agia Irini at Spilia, and ends up a little more to the north of Knossos.
The elevation difference between the entrance and the outlet of the gorge is 270 metres. Special equipment or climbing skills are not needed.
