Ammoudares

A large, but not developed strand with coarse sand and small pebbles.

A beautiful beach, with sand and shallow crystalline water, which washes around the towering smooth and white cliffs.

This is situated between Goudouras and Xerokampos, at the mouth of the Aghia Irini gorge.

The beach lies on the Gulf of Atherinolakkos. It has pale-coloured small pebbles and blue-green crystalline waters.

Kalami Beach

A quiet, secluded beach (the Reed) with pebbles and clear waters, it is surrounded by high cliffs.

You can visit this island, either by hiring a boat (relatively expensive) from Makrigialos, or by your own.

This monastery is built upon an elevation close by the Gorge of Perivolaka, an impressive spot fronting the Libyan Sea and the islet of Koufonisi.

Here is the village (Good Water – from some springs here) and the beach of the same name.

The village of Koutsouras is very close to the seaside settlement of Makrigialos.

The town of Ierapetra, with its Venetian fortress – the Kale, is known for its cultivation of greenhouse crops, as is the whole region.
